Life Skills - The purpose of this course is to teach students how to seek, secure, and maintain employment, and to teach them basic life skills to assist them in making a smooth transition from the classroom into the world of independent adulthood. It is based on the L.C.C.E. (Life Centered Career Education) curriculum developed by the C.E.C. (Center for Exceptional Children) . More information can be obtained from:

Access curriculum - Allows access to regular education classes for math, science, language and social studies.
Course Description: This program comprises two curriculums combined according to the LRE (least restrictive environment) for the individual student. The Life Skills Curriculum emphasizes a functional math, science, history and language arts program. The student will also explore career opportunities, develop social skills and increase the daily living skills they will need to function independently as an adult. The Access Curriculum allows the student to attend regular education classes whenever possible.
Statement of Relevance: Students will learn to seek, secure, and maintain employment, and to teach them basic life skills to assist them in making a smooth transition from the classroom into the world of independent adulthood.

· Caring for personal needs
· Managing personal finances
· Managing a household
· Buying food
· Demonstrating family living
· Buying and caring for clothing
· Getting around the community
· Accessing community services
· Achieving socially responsible behavior
· Developing a healthy self concept
· Communicating effectively
· Maintaining interpersonal skills
· Exploring career opportunities
· Selecting and planning occupational choices
· Seeking, securing and maintaining employment
· Exhibiting appropriate work habits and behaviors
